Which outdated technology do you miss the most, and why?

i miss mixtapes and burning CDs so much it actually hurts sometimes
• there was something so romantic and personal about making someone a playlist back then
• you’d sit there for hours picking the perfect songs, burning it onto a blank CD, and decorating the case with stickers and sharpie doodles
• handing it to someone felt like giving them a little piece of your soul
• “here, this is how i feel about you”
• nowadays you just send a spotify link and it feels… cold
• i also really miss physical photo albums and disposable cameras
• the way you’d wait days to get your film developed, then sit on the floor flipping through the prints, laughing at the blurry ones and the red eyes
• now everything is on our phones and we barely look at them
• i want that feeling again — the anticipation, the tangibility, the way a real photo feels in your hands
• and okay… i miss flip phones a little bit too
• the satisfying snap when you closed it
• the little keypad sounds
• the fact that you couldn’t doomscroll on it so you actually had to live in the moment
• being pregnant has me feeling extra nostalgic lately
• maybe it’s the hormones or maybe it’s knowing i’m about to bring a whole new person into the world…
• but i want our daughter to experience some of that old magic
• i want her to know what it feels like to hand someone a mixtape you spent hours making, or to wait excitedly for photos to come back from the store
• some things were just better when they were slower and more intentional
