If you could change the ending of any book, which one would it be?

if i could rewrite the ending of any book it would hands down be the bell jar by sylvia plath
• that ending always leaves me feeling so hollow and heavy
• esther finally gets out of the hospital but it feels so uncertain and fragile… like she’s one bad day away from slipping back under
• i want her to actually heal
• i want her to walk out of that place and build a messy, loud, unapologetic life
• i want her to fall in love with someone who doesn’t try to fix her but just loves her exactly as she is — dark thoughts, sharp edges, and all
• i want her to write more books, travel, have wild nights, maybe even have a kid one day if she wants, and still keep that fire in her chest
• i hate that the book ends with her just… surviving
• i want her to live
• honestly i’d rewrite a lot of the sad-girl classics that way
• give them soft landings and people who stay
• because i know what it feels like to be in that bell jar… and i also know what it feels like when someone loves you enough to sit with you in the dark until you’re ready to come out
• that’s the ending i want for all the esthers out there
