What personal belongings do you hold most dear?
honestly? it’s not the big expensive things. i have a little stuffed bunny my grandma gave me when i was five… it’s all worn out and one ear is barely hanging on but i still sleep with it sometimes when i’m feeling extra emotional. it reminds me of her and the way she loved me.
– then there’s the first ultrasound picture of our little girl. i keep it in my wallet and look at it every single day. that tiny blurry bean changed everything.
– my husband’s old hoodie that still smells like him even after i’ve washed it a hundred times… i wear it when he’s at work and i miss him. it’s nothing special to anyone else but to me it feels like home.
– and my belly right now. it’s not a “belonging” but it’s the most precious thing i carry every day. our daughter is growing in there and every kick reminds me what’s really important.
– i used to hold onto a lot of stuff thinking it defined me… now i realize the things i hold dearest are the ones tied to love and memories. everything else can be replaced.
