What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

My favorite holiday is still Christmas.
– For me, it’s never really been about religion. It’s about the feeling — the warmth, the lights, the way the world slows down just a little.
– I love the quiet nights with just us, the tree glowing, soft music, and the house smelling like hot chocolate or cinnamon. It feels like a little bubble of peace in a loud world.
– This year it feels even more special because I’m pregnant. I keep imagining our little bean here with us — tiny pajamas, a little stocking with their name, my husband holding them by the tree. my heart feels too big for my chest thinking about it.
– What draws me to Christmas the most is the message behind the man it’s named after. Jesus was a radical teacher who spoke about love, compassion, forgiveness, and peace. He stood up for the poor, the outcast, and the forgotten. He taught that we should love our neighbors, help those in need, and treat people with kindness — even when it’s hard.
– That message of radical love and peace is what I connect with. It feels anarchist in its own way — rejecting hierarchy, power, and violence in favor of caring for one another.
– Christmas gives us an excuse to slow down and remember those values, even if just for a little while. It’s a chance to create our own little world of love and togetherness.
– So yeah… Christmas is my favorite. Not for the gifts or the big dinners, but for the feeling of peace, love, and closeness it brings. And this year, getting to share that with our baby makes it even more meaningful.
What about you? What’s your favorite holiday and why? We’d love to hear what makes it special for you.
