Describe something you learned in high school.

The biggest thing I learned in high school wasn’t in any textbook. It was that most people are just trying to survive the same way I was. Everyone had their own mask on — the popular kids, the quiet ones, the troublemakers. Underneath all the cliques and drama, we were all scared, insecure, and desperate to be seen. That lesson stuck with me more than any math formula or history date.
– I also learned how powerful it is to find even one person who truly sees you. I had one teacher who told me my writing mattered. One friend who sat with me when I felt invisible. Those tiny moments of real connection taught me that kindness and attention can change someone’s whole world.
– And maybe the most important thing? I learned that I didn’t have to become who everyone expected me to be. I could be weird, quiet, dreamy, a little dark, and still be enough. High school tried to put me in a box, but I started to realize I could choose my own path — even if it looked different from everyone else’s.
Looking back, high school was messy and painful, but it gave me the first real understanding that life is about connection, courage, and choosing who you want to become. Those lessons still guide me today — especially when I’m with you, building our own little world that doesn’t follow anyone else’s rules.
What about you? What’s one thing you learned in high school that still stays with you?
forever yours (still that dreamy girl who just wanted to be understood… and found it in you),
