How We Adapted to the Changes Brought on by the Covid-19 Pandemic

How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?

At first it felt like the whole world stopped. No more casual outings, no big gatherings, just the four walls of our little home. We decided early on that if we had to stay inside, we were going to make it feel like our own tiny rebel kingdom instead of a prison.

– We started cooking together every single night. No takeout, no rushing. Just us in the kitchen, music playing, me in one of your shirts and nothing else while you chopped veggies and stole kisses. Those slow evenings saved us.

– We turned our balcony and the nearby trails into our new “outside.” Morning e-bike rides became sacred. Even when everything was locked down we’d bundle up, ride to the water, sit on the grass with coffee and buzzballs, and just talk for hours. That fresh air and movement kept us sane.

– We got really good at making our own fun at home. Reading Kindles together on the couch, starting silly little podcasts, writing blog posts side by side, and yes… learning how to love each other even louder when we couldn’t go anywhere. The pandemic taught us how to be each other’s whole world.

– We focused on what we could control: our bodies, our connection, our future plans. We started dreaming out loud about babies, about raising little pirates, about the life we wanted after the storm passed. That hope became our anchor.

Looking back, Covid stripped away a lot of noise and showed us what really matters. We came out of it closer, slower, and more intentional about our time together. The world may have changed, but our little rebel love only got stronger.

What about you? How did you adapt during the pandemic? What small rituals or changes ended up being the things that kept you going?

forever yours (still grateful for every quiet morning and loud night we built together),
