zerohedge dropped a classic: “nigerian researchers accidentally confirm africa’s low iq problem.”

the article quotes a 2025 study from the university of lagos that found a median iq of 71 in a sample of 2,400 nigerian adults.

then it does the usual racist dance: low iq = high crime = no immigration = africa bad.

here’s what they left out:

1. the study was on chronic malnutrition and lead exposure

– 68 % of the sample had childhood blood-lead levels above 10 µg/dl (cdc threshold for brain damage)

– 41 % had lifelong iodine deficiency

2. the same researchers ran a follow-up with micronutrient supplementation

– 18 months of iodine + iron + zinc = average iq gain of 14 points

the science is clear:

iq is 50–80 % environmental in populations below basic nutrition thresholds.

feed kids, clean the water, stop burning leaded gas—iq rises.

we did it in the west. africa’s doing it now.

zerohedge isn’t reporting science.

they’re laundering colonial anxiety.

anarchist takeaway:

the problem isn’t “african iq.”

the problem is empires that poisoned the soil, stole the resources, and then blamed the victims for not being “smart enough” to thrive in the wreckage.
