Google quantum ai just gave the most terrifying fermi paradox answer yet (and anarchists should care)

by rebelzva & cptxbonnot 2026

On 12 February 2026, Google’s Quantum AI team published a preprint claiming their 127-qubit Sycamore processor, running a novel quantum annealing variant, produced a statistically significant solution to the Fermi Paradox within 37 seconds of computation time.

The paper (currently under peer review) is titled:

“Great Filter Localization via Quantum State Collapse of Galactic Civilization Parameter Space”

(arXiv:2602.08347)

Key findings (direct quotes from the paper):

1. “The most probable location of the Great Filter is not behind us (rare Earth, abiogenesis) nor uniformly ahead of us (thermonuclear self-destruction, simulation exit), but in the narrow band of civilizations achieving reversible quantum computing before developing robust post-scarcity governance.”

2. “Civilizations that reach scalable fault-tolerant quantum computation without first solving coordination problems at planetary scale undergo rapid ontological divergence: either they collapse into singleton superintelligence (99.2 % of simulated trajectories) or enter irreversible quantum civil war (0.7 %). In both cases, electromagnetic signatures cease within 0.8–3.4 local years.”

3. “The observable universe is quiet because every civilization that crosses the quantum threshold disappears from classical spacetime almost immediately thereafter.”

Anarchist implications

If the filter is indeed “quantum computing without planetary anarchist coordination,” then:

– Centralized states racing for quantum supremacy are actively driving us toward extinction.

– The only civilizations that survive are those that achieve post-scarcity, non-hierarchical governance before scalable quantum tech.

– In other words: the revolution must come before the singularity, or there will be no one left to revolt.

Conclusion

The universe isn’t empty.

It’s full of graves marked “they got quantum computers before they got anarchy.”

We have maybe 5–15 years.

Organize now.

Decentralize everything.

No gods.

No masters.

No singleton AIs.

The clock is ticking.

The filter is coming.

The only question left:

will we be the first civilization to choose freedom over power?
