If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

– the word we’re banning forever: “should”

– why? because “should” is a sneaky little guilt monster disguised as advice. it sneaks into every sentence and makes people feel like shit for existing the way they do. “you should eat less” “you should be more productive” “you should shave your legs” “you should want kids” “you should calm down” — nah. fuck that noise.

– “should” is the state’s favorite word. it’s the church’s favorite word. it’s capitalism’s favorite word. it turns free people into obedient little robots who spend their lives chasing someone else’s idea of perfect.

– ban “should” and suddenly people start asking “what do i actually want?” “what feels good to me?” “what’s true for my body/my heart/my life?” that’s anarchy in language form.

– honorable mentions we’d also yeet if we could: “normal” (who decided what that is anyway?), “literally” when people mean “figuratively” (pet peeve), and “moist” (it just sounds wrong, fight me).

– but “should” is the big one. ban it and watch people breathe easier, love louder, fuck freer, live messier and happier.

what word would YOU ban forever? drop it below, we’re nosy and caffeinated and ready to judge (lovingly).

forever yours (and never “should-ing” on anyone),

(dominus voted to ban “no treats” and he’s not wrong)
